Child to start school next year, what should a parent do to be prepared and help prepare the school?

My son was diagnosed with ADHD last August after many troublesome months of having to move him from daycare to daycare centers for various behavior and etc... reasons.  He is currently attending Kindergarten this school year in Stafford, VA public schools.  Next year he will be moving on to the 1st grade.  The initial medication he was put on was Concerta which helped a great deal with his behavior and etc (minimal problem in completing tasks and etc....) .

During this school year I have volunteered  in his kindergarten class room several times.  >From what I have read about ADHD, I didn't find his teacher or the school to be ADHD friendly.  I want to approach the school to ask them what procedures do they have in place to deal with this type of disability but, I don't know what QUESTIONS TO ASK if I am sent to the Stafford County School board.

The best thing that you could do at this time is file a formal request for a Section 504 or IEP conference.  The school should evaluate your son to determine if he is eligible for extra services.  Once this is determined, then you will have the opportunity to meet with the some of the school personnel to work out what additional services may be required to help your son succeed in school.
